GRACE-FILLED TONGUE - PART 1

WEDNESDAY 11 JANUARY 2023

Beloved, have you ever experienced your heart being stirred with noble thoughts and then gracious words begin to stream from your lips? If so, it is God Himself inspiring you with His special words of wisdom for purposeful encounters and positive influences. Let's find out more!

Reference: Isaiah 50:4 New Living Translation (NLT) "The Sovereign LORD has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will."

Words of wisdom and weariness are the important keywords in today's referenced Scripture. Words of wisdom are gracious words which convey godlike or phenomenal excellence, and is characterised by the special and enduring effects of favour. They are words spoken in accordance with the wisdom of God.

On the other hand, weariness is the condition of being tired of one or so many things, and it can be in form of spiritual, physical and emotional tiredness. When a person is exhausted in strength, perseverance, stamina, fitness, or freshness, weariness has set in. A person who is weary can even get tired of utilising their initiatives to keep tackling their challenges or furthering their progress. And so, the Almighty God is showing us that words of wisdom, spoken in a good timing, is a good antidote or standard remedy for curing the weariness of the weary.

When you've mastered how to speak a word in season, to the person who is weary in any given situation, and they can feel confident again in themselves, with full assurance of control over their minds and actions, it shows that you've been empowered to do so by a system known as divine wisdom. Proverbs 12:25 (AMP) reads, "Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, But a good (encouraging) word makes it glad." Encouraging words of wisdom come with the power to cheer a weary person up and to enable him purchase the control that can put them back in a favourable direction.

Proverbs 15:23 (NIV) reads, "A person finds joy in giving an apt reply— and how good is a timely word!" In fact, I don't think I've met anyone who doesn't derive joy in receiving gracious response, or any person who is repulsive to taking delight in being addressed by good or precious words. This implies that words of wisdom give rise to happy occasions and keep us sensible to, or conscious of the blessing resting on us. In the successive parts of this topic, I will also consider shedding light on word of wisdom as a spiritual gift, according to 1st Corinthians 12:8 (KJV). Stay tuned for part 2. Shalom!
