God, "working in us" assures us that He has made us His special dwelling place, and therefore, we must abide steadfastly in His Word to fully understand and comply with what He wants and does in or through us.

Reference: Philippians 2:13 New Living Translation (NLT) "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him."

The simplicity of the account of what God does in us is remarkable. By this I mean and have imagined that we have been qualified by grace to host the Almighty God and His glorious excellence in us. His workings are revealed and exhibited in our actions and operations, because He is the One at work.

We are inseparably tied to Supreme Deity by divine identity. That means, He is the One that gives us our identity. To instantiate this - on account of Petrine epistle, the Bible says, "But you are a chosen people, set aside to be a royal order of priests, a holy nation, God's own; so that you may proclaim the wondrous acts of the One who called you out of inky darkness into shimmering light" (1 Peter 2:9 The Voice). What an identity! You are a chosen person...God's own! Then watch this: The desire He gives us is to show forth His praises, and proclaim His wondrous acts on earth, which is doing what pleases Him.

God always wants us to please Him. That's why He grants us the desire to please Him. But this desire can only be actioned when we walk by faith, not by sight ( 2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV). Walking by faith is the prerequisite for pleasing God. To that effect, Hebrews 11:6 says, "And it is impossible to please God without faith" (NLT). If you do not walk by faith, you'll walk by sight, which equally means that you'll live and function in the realm of the flesh, where it is easy to entertain fleshly desires, rather than desires from God. Zero wonder Romans 8:5 & 8 noted, "Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires... Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God."

In the realm of the flesh, God's will and desires are often ignored. So do not fall in with the customs of those who walk in the flesh and focus their minds on earthly things. The desires from God begin first with the understanding of the Word and firm decision to yield to the governing influence of the Holy Spirit, which in turn, coordinates our will, affections, decisions, actions and conversations, to conform to the will of God, in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness. Thus, to entertain or sustain godly desires, is to give up walking in the flesh and keep our faith alive to God. Shalom!

Guided Prayer: Gracious Father, I thank you for the ability to function and act in agreement with your desires by obeying your Word. As I cogitate on the eternal truths with ardent alacrity, they are introduced into my heart as the power that melts every doubt, unbelief and obstinacy, and the magnet that draws me to consciously follow your desires and constantly fulfil your purpose and perfect will for my life, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
