Christ is the logos and the eternal creator of both the heaven and the earth. He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together. He designed and supervised the origination of all things in existence. Let's find out more!

Reference: Hebrews 1:3 GOD'S WORD® Translation (GW) "His Son is the reflection of God's glory and the exact likeness of God's being. He holds everything together through his powerful words. After he had cleansed people from their sins, he received the highest position, the one next to the Father in heaven."

When the author of the book of Hebrews testifies that Christ holds everything together by His powerful words, it can't be clearer than this: We aren't under the dominion of many gods or Deities. We have just one great Master in charge both in heaven and on earth, and His name is the Lord Jesus Christ. And the Godhead doesn't point to independent Deities, which means Christ and God are an inseparable Deity. John 10:30 (NLT) reads, "The Father and I are one." As God with limitless power, He chose to manifest Himself in the form of Christ. This is why God calls Christ a mystery. To this effect, Paul wrote in Colossians 2:2 (CSB) saying: I want their hearts to be encouraged and joined together in love, so that they may have all the riches of complete understanding and have the knowledge of God's mystery —Christ.

To be precise, Apostle Paul addressed Christ as the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord's people. And the mystery has been extended to us, which is "Christ in you, the hope of glory"…(Colossians 1:26-27). Did you get it? We only have one God but because He can do all things, He extended Himself to the world by manifesting as Christ. Christ is God's spoken word that was made or turned to flesh. This is what John 1:12 means: "In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God." But at the fullness of time the Word became human (John 1:14).

Also, although we have the god of this world, which is an expression of a system being governed by the negative supernatural according to 2 Corinthians 4:4, Christ and Satan are not independent gods. In supremacy and in terms of powers that be, Christ is the head over every power and authority. So Christ is not a personality endued with divine power to function as the Son of God on earth. No! Christ Jesus is Lord and the only true living God. And this is an indisputable and unequivocal truth.

By means of His powerful word, Christ upholds all things in both heaven and earth (all existence). For instance, although in scientific study, we understand that the force of gravity keeps the planets in orbit around the sun, from Biblical truths, we acknowledge that Christ spoke the word that sustains the planets in their orbit. His powerful word sustains the intelligence and ordinances of the heavens and fixed their rule over the earth. And it was spoken once during creation.

Just as it is unthinkable that God would do wrong, with the same understanding, God didn't leave anything to chance when He created everything in existence. Now watch this: Hebrews 1:2 (NIV) reads that Christ was appointed heir of all things, through whom also God made the world. That means God appointed Christ the heir over all things because He made all things through Him. Through the Word, which is Christ, everything was put in their accurate and rightful places in heaven and on earth once for all. How? By simple decree. Through His powerful words, He set up the laws that govern the heavens and the dominion that regulates the earth's seasons.

Furthermore, Christ Jesus is also the foundation that sustains eternal life. The Bible says, "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life" (1 John 5:11-12 ). Beloved, Christ is the origin and source of eternal life and when you receive Him as Lord, you are made free from sinful nature and bondage of Satan, which are a condition of alienation from God. Christ brings you into an active relationship with God and enables you to live a life, well pleasing to God, by upholding you with His powerful Word as you pay attention to it. Shalom!
